What are IDN domains and how do I register them?

Want to register a domain name with special characters? This is permitted using a special type of domain known as an internationalized domain name or IDN domain.

IDN domains, unlike regular domains, are encoded using a special encoding scheme called Punycode. Punycode converts the special characters into a series of letters that stand in for the non-English character. You can recognize an IDN domain in its raw form because you’ll see an "xn--" in front of it. So möbelträgerfüße.com becomes xn--mbeltrgerfsse-gfb8xwd.com.

ConnectReseller now provides feature to register IDN domain's from panel. Currently only .COM & .Net Tld's are supported.

To register IDN domain do as follows

  1. Log into your reseller account
  2. Click on Place Order tab
  3. The the desired domain name yo wish to register (please make a note that you have to enter the exact domain name to register, i.e. möbelträgerfüße.com
  4. If the domain is available you can place order for same.
